The Good for You M&M's
Sherry - 11/26/2025
We definitely need the M&M.
I want to touch on two more minerals today for my last post on this topic. Most people are very familiar with Magnesium. We hear a lot of advertisements about taking magnesium, so I don't want to take much time here.
I do want to mention that calcium and magnesium balance each other out. Calcium is hardening and magnesium is softening. We need both to have a balanced body. A lot of the dark green leafy vegetables have calcium and magnesium in them. Some supplements have both. However, it is possible to be low in one and high in another, so nutritional assessments are helpful in showing us what we are low in.
These are some signs of low magnesium:
- Constipation
- Eye or muscle twitches
- Kidney stones
- Cramps
- Insomnia
- PMS
- headaches/migraines
- Heart palpitations
- Fatigue
- Depression/anxiety
- Irritability
- Sensitivity to loud sounds
- Even diabetes and heart disease
It's kind of surprising, I think, that these are very common complaints, and the fix may be as simple as increasing your magnesium!
These are foods that help with magnesium:
- Nuts
- Whole grains
- Beans
- Green leafy vegetables
- Salmon/Fish/meat
- Pumpkin seeds/other seeds
You can even get it through a drink : Mineral water, coconut milk, prune juice, green smoothies, and
hot cocoa!
Another important mineral is Manganese. This one doesn't get talked about as much, but it really is critical to health. Check out the signs of low manganese:
- Convulsions
- Sore knees
- Growing pains
- Muscle twitches
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Iron deficiencies
- Loss of hearing
- Breaking hair or nails
- Loss of hair color
- Low cholesterol
Wow. Are you getting the point of how important minerals are? Now see if this list of foods sounds familiar.
- Whole grains
- Legumes
- Brown rice
- Shellfish
- Nuts (hazelnuts, pecans)
- Dark leafy greens
- Pineapple / blueberries
- Tea
I'm sure you've noticed how many of the same foods are listed in all my posts. That shows us that eating real food from the ground gives us the minerals we need. When we eat real food, we gain real health.
You may have noticed, too, that a lot of the symptoms are similar for several of the mineral deficiencies. That is because when the body is not getting the nourishment it needs to thrive, it steals from whatever source it can. Every one of our cells suffer when there is not enough nutrition. Symptoms show up in our weakest links.
The good news is, like I mentioned above, the same providential foods help in each deficiency. We don't have to buy certain foods for each of the 60+ minerals. The same 30 foods are good for all our mineral needs.
I encourage you to incorporate more mineral rich foods into your daily menu.
Until next time...
Enjoy God's providence!
