Take Control of Your Blood Sugar

Take control of your blood sugar.
I'm not going to go too deep in this, because I want to keep it simple and short. Healthy blood sugar levels is key to maintaining good health and a good body weight.
Balancing blood sugar is critical to prevent serious health problems like heart disease, stroke, organ damage, and much more. It boosts energy and other health functions.
Many "white" foods like bread, pasta, white rice, potatoes, etc. are considered simple carbohydrates, because they convert into sugar so rapidly. When you eat these sugars or refined grains, the pancreas releases a surge of insulin which tells all the sugar where to go; either to be burned as fuel, or to be stored.
If we eat a lot of these simple carbs, our body is constantly having to shuttle sugars out of the blood, since it's dangerous to have too much sugar in the blood. After all the extra sugar is out of the blood, and all the sugar that is needed for energy is used, where do you think the rest of it goes? To fat cell storage.
Just like the storage buildings, that we see all around our towns, get stuffed with more and more stuff, our bodies' fat cells are stuffed. Since we keep eating more carbs, the body just has to build more storage units and... we gain weight.
If we limit our simple carbs, and eat mostly complex carbs, the body can keep up. It will burn the sugar and not have any left to store. That's the goal.
Complex carbs are good ol' fruits and vegetables that are low on the glycemic scale. All vegetables and fruits have sugar in them. I agree that the low carb foods help us to lose weight, but I don't tell people to ever refuse vegetables. People don't get cancer from eating vegetables. If you're trying to lose weight, you might eat the low carb vegetables and good meats and lots of good fats (keto) until you get your desired weight. After that I feel like you can maintain good weight just by avoiding the simple sugar foods.
I encourage you to watch your blood sugar. Preferably before you have to go see a doctor about it. We can avoid having to go to doctors and be put on meds if we just limit our sugar. I stand by my statement: Sugar is a dangerous drug. Use it in small amounts like Providence intended.
Until next time... Enjoy God's providence!
